Recap of Champagne Events (2019)

The bubbles were rising at our Champagne Extravaganza this week as we enjoyed a decadent night of tasting vintage, non-vintage, dry and sweet champagnes from France. Our hand-picked selections from famed champagne houses to grower-producers evoked a sense of celebration and fun as we sipped our way through fifteen different champagnes. Each one offering immensely seductive styles, complex layers of flavors and sparkling smiles. A favorite fizz of the evening was Egly-Ouriet’s NV Blanc des Noirs Brut Grand Cru “Les Crayeres” (97 points Wine Advocate), with stunningly refined bubbles, bone-dry with savory undertones of chalk, white pepper and hints of apricot building on the finish. From a tiny lieu-dit in Ambonnay to our Wine Outlet store, we had the pleasure of tasting three of Egly-Ouriet’s elegant offerings and it was a pleasure to experience. Another favorite was Gimonnet-Gonet’ Tradition Brut, youthful and crisp. One customer exclaimed, “This is exactly what I want in a Champagne, slightly fruity with a wonderfully bubbly sensation on my tongue that I could drink every night!”

Both Champagne Events at our Vienna location (Thursday 12/12) and at our Great Falls location (Friday 12/13) offered a full range variety of Champagne options to try. From light and elegant to rich and creamy, from pale golden to pale pink, from finding one favorite champagne or enjoying the moment of each dancing bubbly, we opened an option for everyone!

Along with our effervescing champagnes, we offered perfectly paired food samples of rich triple cream Brillat-Savarin, savory duck pate, smoked Norwegian salmon, batonnets of crudites’, red berries and chocolates.
